Writing the Digital History of Nazi Germany Potentialities and Challenges of Digitally Researching and Presenting the History of the Third Reich, World War II, and the Holocaust
The article "Digitale NS-Geschichtsschreibung. Herausforderungen im Umgang mit digitalen Quellen in der Geschichtsforschung und -vermittlung zum Nationalsozialismus" has recently be published in the volume "Raumkonstruktionen. Digital Humanities und die 'Messbarkeit' des NS-Regimes / Spatial Constructions. The Digital Humanities and the 'Measurability' of the Nazi Regime'" (ed. by Richard Němec), p. 57-78. It can be downloaded via De Gruyter's website here. I have contributed a chapter to the book, edited by Frank Becker and Daniel Schmidt: Mit Sport und Spiel zur "Volksgemeinschaft": Betriebssport der NS-Organisation "Kraft durch Freude", 183- 194. For a review, see h-soz-kult. Ruptures in the Everyday is out! I was part of an author collective ("ATG 26") that wrote this book; main editors were Andrew S. Bergerson and Leonard Schmieding. In the article "'Männer und Frauen bei fröhlichem Spiel.' Ziele, Gestaltung und Aneignungsversuche von KdF-Betriebssport" I discuss the sports activities of the Nazi leisure organization Kraft durch Freude, with a special focus on the sports in factories and for German workers during the Third Reich. The article is part of a volume on sports and National Socialism, edited by Frank Becker and Ralf Schäfer and published in October 2016 by Wallstein. |
